Police seize drugs, cash, cellphones during major bust in N. Versailles

NORTH VERSAILLES, Pa. — Authorities in North Versailles confiscated 33 bricks of heroin, stacks of money and numerous cellphones during a major drug bust Thursday.

"This is the way dealers do it, they use different phones when they feel they're being investigated. They switch phones,” said North Versailles Police Officer Todd Corbett.

Despite the suspects’ attempts to divert authorities, investigators were able to track them down after three months and bust a suspected heroin ring.

"It's a little more than street level I would say. We got street value between $11,000 and $12,000 worth of heroin. We seized $3,000 in cash,” said Corbett.

Officers moved in on the suspects at the Versailles Castle Apartments Thursday when two of the men saw them and took off, Corbett said.

"As one suspect was running, he threw a box containing the 33 bricks of heroin,” he said.

According to Corbett, the bust was one of the largest in the North Versailles area.

Police declined to release the suspect’s name in the hopes that he’ll turn on other dealers. Meanwhile, officers continue to search for one additional person.

Once they’re both in custody, police said they’ll be charged with possession and possession with the intent to deliver.
