Popular South Hills restaurant to reopen a few days after Sunday fire

PITTSBURGH — A popular restaurant in the South Hills caught fire over the weekend. Channel 11 got a close-up look at the damage on Monday and found out when the restaurant expects to reopen.

On Sunday morning, a fire broke out at the well-known Baltimore House along Curry Hollow road in Pleasant Hills.

Viewer video showed smoke pouring out of the restaurant. The family who owns the restaurant said off-camera that it appears the fire started in the back of the building, where a food truck was located.

They also said the fire damaged one of the upstairs dining rooms inside the restaurant where the hibachi is located but they said the room has not been open for a while.

The damage to the restaurant is minor and no one was hurt in the fire.

The main part of the restaurant, which is downstairs, was not impacted. That is where the seafood restaurant and bar is located. The family said county inspectors told them the restaurant can reopen in a few days, and they intend to do so within the week.

The county said the fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire.
