PITTSBURGH — A man is in custody after a SWAT situation on Mt. Washington Wednesday evening.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, Zone 3 Pittsburgh Police officers were called to the 600 block of Curtis Street for a domestic call for a dispute between a male and a female.
The male was armed with a gun and allegedly threatened the female.
A press release says that SWAT and negotiators were called in after the male barricaded inside the residence with their two young children.
Negotiators made repeated attempts to contact and speak with the male by phone, and by verbal calls over a loudspeaker.
After over two hours, police eventually spoke with the man by phone and convinced him to come outside. He surrendered without incident.
The children were unharmed and evaluated by paramedics on scene.
Pittsburgh Public Safety says that charges are expected.
The identity of the male has not been released.
