Robinson Twp. man accused of shooting ex-girlfriend's dog in face

ROBINSON, Pa. — A Robinson Township man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend’s dog is facing charges.

Police said Brian Foley, 29, shot the 9-month-old shepherd mix on May 18 at his ex-girlfriend’s house on Moon Run Road.

The dog’s owner, Brandi Francis said that Foley had too much to drink.

“I don't think he meant to do it. I don't know what was going through his head,” Francis said.

According to police, Foley said the gun accidentally went off while he was trying to unload it.

Investigators told Channel 11 News that a 6-week-old baby was sleeping just a few feet away at the time of the shooting. Four other children were also asleep inside the house.

Foley, a former police officer, is charged with animal cruelty and endangering another person.

Francis said Foley has abused the dog in the past, including an incident when he pointed a gun at the dog during a drunken tirade.

She said she has taken out a restraining order to protect the kids, but is praying that her ex-boyfriend gets help.

The dog is now partially blind, struck by the bullet in the left eye.
