None — PITTSBURGH -- A sanitation worker who was picking up trash was struck by a car early Monday morning in Garfield.
The accident happened at about 8 a.m. along Black Street.
According to investigators, the driver said she was unable to see the City of Pittsburgh Refuse Worker due to sun glare.
Police said the driver hit the 56-year-old worker and pinned him between the hopper of the truck and her vehicle.
The victim was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.
"I heard a huge crash and someone screaming and I came out just to see what was going on out here," said neighbor Alexa Belajac. "He was awake. I asked him if he could tell me his name and where he was. He just kept saying, 'Oh my God' over and over again. He couldn't really tell me what was going on."
Police plan to return to the scene of the accident to continue their investigation on Tuesday.
"We're probably going to come out here again tomorrow morning right around the same time. It's supposed to be a nice sunny day just like today and we're going to do a little reconstruction work just to see what we can see," said Pittsburgh police officer Daniel Connolly.
Investigators said charges no charges were immediately filed.
