School district in Johnstown promises ‘thorough review' of unpatriotic photo

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — An unpatriotic photograph posted by students in the Richland School District in Johnstown has raised eyebrows among members of the community and school administrators.

The photo, which appears to have been taken in a classroom setting, shows a young man standing on an American flag while a young woman standing beside him displays her middle finger and sticks out her tongue.

The following message from the superintendent of schools on behalf of the Richland School District solicitor has been posted on the district's website and Facebook page:

"The Richland School District has become aware of this unfortunate and unpatriotic picture posted by some of its students. This type of picture does not represent the opinion of the District or of its overall student population. The District promises a timely and thorough review of this incident and will implement appropriate legal discipline."
