Man shot by police after destructive Brownsville pursuit

BROWNSVILLE, Pa. — A man was shot by police after he tried to elude an officer in his pickup truck, which left behind a trail of destruction and crashed into two Brownsville homes late Friday night.

Police were called to Green Street, where Travis Musgraves was seen driving. An active warrant was out for his arrest, police said.

When an officer approached Musgrave's vehicle near Sheldon Avenue and Green Street, Musgrave sped across a sidewalk and struck a pole, police said. He then continued east on Green Street and onto Thornton Alley before driving into a yard, turning around and driving through a fence.

Musgrave continued driving on Thornton Alley, struck three parked vehicles and drove into a yard on Clover Street, where he crashed into a storage shed, police said.

The officer following in pursuit then ordered Musgrave, who was attempting to turn his truck around, to stop and get out of the vehicle. At that point, Musgrave put the truck in reverse and accelerated toward the officer, who had exited his patrol vehicle.

According to police, the officer shot at and struck Musgrave's truck, which hit the patrol vehicle. Musgrave then continued driving, struck the side of a Clover Street home, backed up and crashed into a neighboring home.

Channel 11's Jennifer Borrasso reported that one of the homes was hit with such force that it was knocked nearly a foot off of its foundation and endured significant damage to the kitchen.

Police said Musgrave ignored commands by the pursuing officer and another officer who arrived at the scene to get out of the truck. Shots were subsequently fired, hitting Musgrave in the left hand and left shoulder.

Musgrave was arrested and faces charges including aggravated assault. His injuries are not life-threatening.
