The two schools merged together to form Armstrong High School this year, forcing the football teams to merge as well.

“Now that everyone’s come together, it’s all dropped. No one talks about it, no one talks about the rivalry. Everyone is just one big team with one big goal right now,” said Zane Dudek, junior running back.
The road to making two teams into one was not always easy, but went better than many people expected, according to the team’s coach.
“When we first started it we met a little bit of resistance with some of the kids that were new to us, but as time went along I think it was a little easier than we anticipated,” said Frank Fabian, Armstrong coach.
Dudek’s father graduated from Kittanning, and his mother from Ford City.
“You could tell this week we have some jitters, but we’re ready to play because we’re just letting it all loose right now. Everyone knows this first game is coming. We can feel it, everyone’s so excited, the town’s excited,” said Dudek.
