Strong winds do damage, knock out power in Ross Township

PITTSBURGH — Strong winds did damage in Ross Township on Thursday, including knocking out an insulator on a transformer which put many residents out of power.

As crews worked to put out the flames and repair the transformer, cars backed up on McKnight Road.

Channel 11 Meteorologists say that wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour came through during the storm.

Power is expected to be restored for everyone impacted by 11 p.m. Thursday.
