Student could face criminal charges after school bus assault

RANKIN, Pa. — A student is facing expulsion and possible criminal charges after she allegedly beat a girl on a school bus.

A Channel 11 viewer shared a video that was going around on Facebook, and soon, Channel 11 learned that police were investigating the incident.

In the video, a girl in a pink sweatshirt, the aggressor, is seen boarding the school bus and then attacking a girl in a gray sweatshirt. The aggressor kicks the other girl in the side and delivers several blows to her head.

No one on the bus takes any action. The girl in the pink sweatshirt then stands on a seat and continues the assault. Only then is someone seen trying to pull the girl back off the bus. She gets off the bus for a moment but comes back on, grabbing the victim’s hair and screaming at her.

Woodland Hills Superintendent Alan Johnson said both girls in the video are 17-year-olds who attend the alternative school in Rankin.

He said the girl in the pink sweatshirt stayed home from school earlier this week and waited for the bus to make its afternoon drop-off on Fleet Street.

When the doors opened, he said the girl jumped on the bus and went after the other student.Rankin police took the girl in pink into custody and are preparing criminal charges. She was also suspended from school and could face expulsion once the school’s investigation is completed.
