Teen with muscular dystrophy attacked in Mt. Washington says best friend is to blame

MOUNT WASHINGTON, Pa. — A local teenager is still recovering 10 days after he was attacked in Mount Washington.

Alan Littlejohn Jr. said he was beaten and thrown over a hillside in Grandview Park by his best friend. Littlejohn said the two were arguing about a girl when things escalated.

“He came up behind me and started choking me on my neck and I felt something stabbing me in my neck,” Littlejohn said. “I was thinking, ‘Why would he do something like this to me? I’m your best friend.’”

Investigators said 15-year-old Kenneth Murphy has been charged with attempted homicide.

Littlejohn said it took him 24 hours before he had the strength to crawl out of the woods in Grandview Park. Murphy spoke exclusively to Channel 11 News after the attack and said he didn’t mean to hurt him so badly.

“I’m sorry, Alan,” Murphy said.

Littlejohn’s father said he wants the harshest punishment possible for Murphy.

“It was a setup. It was premeditated. What he did to my son -- He called then said, ‘Let’s go to the store.’ By them being friends, Allan trusted him and said, ‘OK, we’ll go to the store,’” Littlejohn Sr. said.

Littlejohn said he remembers the last thing Murphy said to him before the fight was over.

“He asked me what my last words were before I die,” Littlejohn said.

Littlejohn suffers from muscular dystrophy and continues to recover from several injuries.
