Thieves steal railroad tracks from Punxsutawney company

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. — Thieves in Punxsutawney stole about 110 feet of railroad track Thursday.

According to police, unknown thieves stole the used tracks from the Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad Co. in Punxsutawney.

No arrests have been made and police aren't sure exactly when the theft occurred.

Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad Co. officials have not commented on the incident.

Officials said the recent surge in metal thefts in Western Pennsylvania is puzzling. Car parts, copper pipes, sewer grates and railroad tracks are among the most common items stolen.
