Veterans Day parade draws crowd under sunny skies

PITTSBURGH — Bands blared out patriotic and military tunes at Pittsburgh’s Veterans Day Parade on Saturday.

The parade route – new this year – was lined with people of all ages waving small flags and included many veterans. Units marched from Grant Street to Liberty Avenue and then to Stanwix Street and finished at the Boulevard of the Allies.

“I love seeing he bands from all over the area. And we have such great weather today,” said Haya Eason, 49 of Bethel Park.

Paradegoers enjoyed sunshine and temperatures reached the 60s.

Eason, who served in the Marine Corps for nine years, attends the parade every year.

“We always come. We even take our daughter out of school to see the parade because we think it’s important,” she said.

This year, though, the parade was held on a Saturday.
