Authorities said he completed the work in approximately three days but stole 98 rings worth more than $30,000 from the homeowners

According to police, Upton pawned many of the rings at Kathryn’s Jewelry in Connellsville for a few hundred dollars each.

Upton allegedly told police that he needed money to fuel a marijuana habit.

As of 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, he was not in police custody.
