Washington Co. DA rules business owner who shot intruder was justified; man shot facing charges

Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh ruled the business owner who shot an intruder earlier this month was justified. Charges of criminal trespass and terroristic threats have also been filed against the man who was shot.

Charges were filed against Tony Troutman of California, Pa., who allegedly broke into a building at 513 McKean Avenue in Charleroi on May 25.

Troutman threatened the building owner, telling him he had a gun while hiding behind a closed bathroom door, according to the complaint.

The business owner told officers he feared for his life, so he shot through the door.

Channel 11 was the only TV station there as crews rushed Troutman to the hospital,

There is now a warrant for his arrest.
