WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — A Washington County woman is facing a long list of charges after she allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from her employer, according to police.
Valley Bulk Transport’s controller, Carrie Ann Ammons-Daviduk, is facing 189 charges after she stole more than $200,000 from the local business, Chartiers Township police said.
“She was in charge of payroll and business accounts,” said Chartiers Township Police Chief James Horvath.
Horvath explained how Ammons-Daviduk allegedly stole the money. He said she was paid $950 a week, but by adding one digit to the front of that figure, Horvath said she paid herself $8,950 a week.
Police alleged that she did so for 21 weeks for a total of $168,000 - but that’s just the beginning. Authorities said Ammons-Daviduk also signed the business owner’s name on numerous checks and kept the cash, totaling $41,000.
When added together, she allegedly pocketed $209,471.
Authorities said she was caught when a new controller was hired to help her.
“He hired another person who started working and found a discrepancy,” said Horvath.
Police said Ammons-Daviduk confessed to using the money on repairs to her home.
Valley Bulk Transport’s owner told Channel 11 News that on her job application, Ammons-Daviduk indicated that she had never been convicted of a felony.
However, he said after her arrest, he did his own digging and found out that she had been arrested before for a similar crime in Butler County.
