ALLENPORT, Pa. — The man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in Washington County was found dead in his car Wednesday.
Jeanne Bennati, 51, was found dead from a single gunshot wound in front of her home on Locust Street in Allenport, Washington County, around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Wednesday morning, a Channel 11 News Facebook fan sent us a photo of what appeared to be a car matching a description of the gunman's car on Route 88.
State police later confirmed that the man was found dead inside the Corvette with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The coroner identified the man as Ryan Lee Foster.
“That suspect was located approximately 4 miles from where the shooting involved Ms. Benatti. He was actually found in his vehicle in a parking lot deceased,” Trooper Stefanie Plume said. “They said there were some domestic incidents involving the two of them in the past and with the two of them recently splitting up."
The victim’s daughter told Channel 11’s Joe Holden that her mother was going through a divorce and she feared something like this would happen.
“She was an amazing mother. She raised me on her own for 22 years, and I wouldn’t have anything if it wasn’t for her,” daughter Alexis Wadsworth said. “She just told me the other day how scared she was of him.”
Wadsworth said she spent all of Sunday with her mother, who worked at the Knights of Columbus.
“My daughter loves her so much,” said Wadsworth. “She’s 3 years old and says, ‘Nona’ all day long.”
Authorities said they continue to investigate what led up to the fatal shooting.
