Man accused of scamming people through Craigslist arrested in Missouri for impersonating US marshal

PITTSBURGH — A man accused of scamming people through Craigslist was arrested in Missouri for impersonating a U.S. marshal.

Kylee Wood, 19, said she had been dating Timothy Rossell last November when he told her that he could get her a new truck at a low price.

Woods knew Rossell as Remington Woods while they were dating, but said her family found out his real identity.

"We were only together for a month when my family found out who he was," Wood said.

Wood confronted Rossell after learning that he was wanted by police and accused of scamming people through Craigslist. Rossell then took off with the $20,000 Wood had given him.

"It was hard to know somebody could take advantage of me like that,” Wood said.

Thursday, Wood saw Rossell had been arrested in Missouri for impersonating a U.S. marshal.

"I ended up emailing the news down there and they forwarded my email to the police down there in Missouri," Wood said.

Wood spoke with Missouri police and is trying to get other victims to come forward.

Wood said her experience with Rossell made her change her college major to criminal justice.

"Because of him, I found the career path I want to be in. That's the only thing I can thank him for," Wood said.

Anyone who has information about Rossell or believes they are a victim is asked to contact police.
