BUTLER, Pa.,None — A man accused of running a marijuana growing operation was arrested in Butler on Thursday.
During the raid, police said, Charles Hamilton had five large bags of marijuana in his possession and some drug paraphernalia.
Hamilton's ex-wife told Channel 11 News he's a good man and that she was upset over his arrest.
"I don't hate him. He wasn't thinking. Everybody makes mistakes. But when it comes to children you really have to watch what you're doing," said Leann Hamilton. "I'm glad they [the children] didn't have to see their dad in handcuffs."
She said he had primary custody of their children, who weren't home at the time of the arrest.
The woman said Hamilton does not use drugs and was simply trying to support his family.
"He works at same place I do and was on medical leave, I do know that. So I could sort of understand he was trying to survive because he wasn't working. But there are legal ways of doing it," said a friend.
Hamilton is in the Butler County Jail on $25,000 bond.
