MCKEESPORT, Pa. — A mother tells Channel 11 News that she was carjacked Monday at gunpoint outside her home in McKeesport as her 6-year-old daughter sat in the back seat.
"He just had the gun pointed to my head. All I kept hearing was, 'Mommy, mommy, mommy, please don't, please don't,’” Karissa Bryant said. "Never once did I think I would hear my daughter say, ‘I'm afraid because my mom had a gun to her head.’”
Bryant said around 8:30 p.m. Monday she parked in front of her home on Porter Street when a man with a gun pointed at her approached.
She said at first she thought it was a neighbor joking, but quickly realized she did not recognize the man. Bryant said her mind immediately went to her daughter, who was sitting in the back seat.
"He went to close the door, so I hurried up and stuck my arm in the door and hit the unlock button because my daughter was still locked in the back,” she said.
Bryant showed Channel 11 News the fading bruise on her arm where she fought the two men to get her daughter out of the car.
"It was two seconds away from her going with them. It's horrible. I've never been so scared in my life,” the mother said.
McKeesport police called Bryant six hours after the men took off with her car, saying the vehicle had been found but the keys were missing.
Bryant shared a message with Channel 11 News for the two men who she said traumatized her daughter.
"Karma is going to get you for doing that to a 6-year-old kid. I'm not worried about me. I'm worried about my daughter. I hope they do find out who it is, and I hope they do get put in jail,” she said.
Bryant said she has lived in McKeesport her whole life but is now considering moving.
McKeesport police did not return calls or emails for an update on the search for suspects.
