PITTSBURGH,None — A Pittsburgh woman convicted of running a prostitution ring that catered to professional athletes and other high-profile clients is back behind bars.

Pittsburgh police said Amy Schifano, 35, was charged Thursday with prostitution and possession of an instrument of crime. She was taken into custody at a home along Browsnville Road in Carrick.

Schifano gained notoriety as the "Monroeville Madame" in 2008 when she was sentenced to state prison for running a multimillion-dollar prostitution and drug operation, police said.

Schifano pleaded guilty to charges she ran an escort service out of the home of her boyfriend's parents. Her then-boyfriend, John Robert Buczkowski, also pleaded guilty. He spent five years in the NFL with teams including the Raiders and Browns.

Police said Schifano pleaded guilty to another prostitution charge last year in Green Tree and was on probation at the time of her most recent arrest.

Schifano is being held on $5,000 bail.
