1. Abduction, search and discovery of Nalani Johnson

It all started with an Amber Alert, and the investigation took a heartbreaking turn with the death of 2-year-old Nalani Johnson. Sharena Nancy was charged with homicide two months after she allegedly kidnapped Johnson and abandoned her in a park. Nalani was abducted in Penn Hills on Aug. 31 and her body was discovered on Sept. 4 in Pine Ridge Park in Indiana County.


2. Pittsburgh trick-or-treat times rescheduled

Heavy rain and strong winds forced some Pittsburgh-area towns to postpone trick-or-treating.


3. Girl’s seat belt came undone on Kennywood coaster, family said

A roller coaster ride turned terrifying for a Monessen family that was visiting Kennywood. A father says his daughter’s seat belt unlatched mid-ride on the Phantom’s Revenge, and the proof was in a photo taken on the ride and shared with 11 News.


4. Woman pleads guilty to strangling boyfriend’s toddler daughter

A local woman pleaded guilty in the 2018 death of a 23-month-old girl in Clairton. Deasha Ringgold was charged with homicide and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the death of Aubree Sherrell.

5. Former NFL player Terrelle Pryor stabbed at Heinz Lofts apartment

Police arrested two people, including free agent NFL WR and QB Terrelle Pryor, after Pryor was stabbed in Pittsburgh. Pryor, 30, reportedly underwent surgery after a violent dispute inside his Heinz Lofts apartment. A woman -- identified as Shalaya Briston, 24 -- was also injured. Briston was charged with criminal attempt homicide and aggravated assault, while Pryor was charged with simple assault.


6. Massive water main break in Carrick

Hundreds of thousands of people were under a boil water advisory after a massive water main break in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood. East Agnew Avenue in the area of Becks Run Road was ripped apart by the rushing water.


7. WPIAL bans local high school from 2020 football playoffs for using ineligible player

The West Mifflin High School football team used an ineligible player all season this fall, so the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) has banned the team from the postseason in 2020.


8. Local chiropractor found dead inside office was murdered, police say

The North Huntingdon Township Police Department is investigating the “suspicious” death of a chiropractor after he was found dead inside his office. Through the investigation, police said they determined someone killed David Bailey. His death is now being called a homicide.

9. Local couple suing Nemacolin Woodlands Resort

A local couple sued Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Fayette County. It all started online while they were searching for the perfect wedding reception venue. They claimed the resort lied when it advertised itself as a top-rated luxury resort.


10. Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta canceled days before scheduled start

The Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta has been canceled, days before it was scheduled to start. Officials said there were issues with the vendor and payments to contractors.
