New hospital, cancer center open in Westmoreland County

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa — A new hospital and cancer center is now open in Westmoreland County.

Allegheny Health Network officially opened a new neighborhood hospital Monday.

“I am tremendously excited for the community. I think that they have longed for this point of access,” Julie Ference, regional CFO, said.

Located along Route 30 in Hempfield Township, the facility provides another health care option for people in Westmoreland County.

“So clearly our staff are from the community and they’re very eager to take care of their friends, neighbors and family in terms of that close access point and being able to be expedient for the care deliveries for an emergency situation and calming their families and friends when they need that care,” Regional CEO Cindy Dorundo said.

The hospital includes an emergency room, 10-bed inpatient unit and a two-story state-of-the-art cancer center with oncology, trials and nutritional counseling.
