PITTSBURGH — Saturday night, the Petersen Events Center will host the North Allegheny and Chartiers Valley boys’ basketball programs as the two teams play for the WPIAL AAAA Championship title.
The Tigers and Colts come into Saturday’s showdown as the tournament's two top-seeded teams, boasting 23-2 and 22-3 records, respectively. Aside from having similar regular season records, both teams tout high-octane offenses that average a little less than 80 points per game.
“Both us and North Allegheny like to run,” said Chartiers Valley senior Matty McConnell. “I think it’s kind of going to be like a track meet.”
Even if it isn’t as fast as a track meet, North Allegheny’s head coach Dave DeGregorio believes the game will be a sight to see.
“I think it’ll be an interesting game to watch if you’re a basketball fan,” said DeGregorio.
The WPIAL AAAA Championship game will take place Saturday at 9 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center at the University of Pittsburgh.
