Officer, suspect injured after chase, crash in Uniontown

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — A police chase ended with both an officer and suspect hospitalized in western Pennsylvania.

Authorities say both were taken to the hospital after the crash Thursday morning in Uniontown, but it wasn't immediately clear how badly they were hurt.

Christopher Greer, 31, was arrested after Uniontown City Police attempted to stop a black Chevrolet pickup truck for crossing the center line five times on Derrick Avenue.%

According to court records, Greer is a repeat offender, with two dozen criminal cases in Fayette County.

According to police, Greer eluded one officer before his truck was identified by another police car.

A truck appears to have hit the passenger side of the police cruiser near railroad tracks at Barton Mill Road and Cinder Avenue.

"Several weeks before that, we chased him and his wasn't caught," said Mayor Bernie Kasievich, mayor of Uniontown.

The new mayor went to the scene last night and was dissapointd to hear how quickly Greer posted bail.

"He is a repeat offender, no question," Kasievich said.

According to officials, the officer sustained abrasions, contusions  and whiplash to the cervical spine.

Greer is facing a number of charges, including attempted homicide ,aggravated assault and aggravated assault by vehicle.
