BETHESDA, Md. — People on a popular running trail in Maryland are being warned about an owl that’s been attacking runners because of their hairstyle.
The attacks are happening in a park in Bethesda.

Officials are asking runners to hide their ponytails because owls are confusing it for prey.
“All of a sudden, like a second later, it flew at my neck again,” said Abigail Klaus. “I flipped out, threw my head lamp off and sprinted away.”
No one has been seriously hurt, but runners are being asked to stay off the trail at night since owls are nocturnal.
