"Nobody wins in these cases. If Mr. Beck is found not guilty, he still doesn't win because a young man lost his life that night," defense attorney Casey White said.

Another friend who was in the car with Beck and Phillips, testified that Beck had a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer can in his hand when he picked him up.%

During court testimony, the friend said "Christopher was calling out the speed as he drove...70, 80, 90. I saw the arrow hit 100 and then we crashed."

Beck slammed into two trees on Stoltz Road this past May. Phillips died instantly.

"It's sad. It's tragic. They're all buddies. Nobody meant for this to happen that night. Obviously some poor decisions were made," White said.

The friend told the judge that Beck took a case of beer out of the trunk and dumped it after the crash before police arrived.
