PITTSBURGH,None — One man was shot and killed and another wounded when they broke into a Pittsburgh apartment late Wednesday, police said.
The shooting occurred at about 11:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of Chartiers Avenue in the Elliott neighborhood, police said.
The robbers forced open the front door and tried to rob the occupants, police said. That's when the intruders were shot and the occupants left the apartment, police said.
One of the accused robbers, Melvin Johnson, 20, of Pittsburgh, was shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A second man was shot in the head and torso. He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in critical condition.
Officers and detectives also recovered several firearms inside the apartment.
No one has been arrested.
