WEST KITTANNING, Pa.,None — Police have charged a 21-year-old man in connection with the death of an Armstrong County teenager.
Investigators said Toby Noel, 21, gave liquor and drugs to Anthony Kline, 14, of West Kittanning. Kline's body was later found in his parent's back yard on Oct. 4, 2010.
Investigators said the combination of alcohol and drugs led to the teenager's death.
Kline had been reported missing the previous day, according to the coroner. Police said Kline left his home with a group of friends ranging in ages 17 to 21 on Sunday afternoon.
Investigators said those friends told them they bought Kline Oxycontin and marijuana from someone outside of their group. The friends also told police that Kline drank alcohol that night.
The friends told police that they dropped Kline off in an alley behind his home and drove away. His body was found by the West Kittanning Borough maintenance workers as they drove the alley between Cleveland and Harrison streets the next day.
"It's very rough. Anthony is only 14. Too young for this to happen," said his mother. "It's a very big loss. He was always smiling."
Noel was charged with corruption of minors and selling alcohol to minors. The victim's friends said they believe Noel should be facing more serious charges.
"I don't think that that is enough. He should face more. I mean, the kid died," said Anny Bowers.
According to police paperwork, Noel lives four doors away from Kline's parent's home.
