SWAT Called After Homewood Woman Says Boyfriend Pulls Gun On Her

PITTSBURGH,None — SWAT teams were called to a residence in Homewood overnight, but what started out as a hostage situation turned out to be a misunderstanding, police said.

Pittsburgh police had patrols out all over the city making sure things didn't get out of control after the Steelers' Super Bowl loss to the Green Bay Packers when they got a call from a woman who said her boyfriend was in her house and had a gun.

The incident was reported at about 11:30 p.m. at a home along Hermitage Street.

Police said a woman called them after she had a fight with her boyfriend. She said she barricaded herself inside her room while she talked to 911 dispatchers.

Police said she told them her boyfriend was still in the house and had a gun.

SWAT teams showed up and eventually entered the house, but it turned out the woman's boyfriend wasn't in the house. Police said the man heard about what was going on and turned himself in.

Police said they're still trying to piece together exactly what happened. So far, there's no word if any charges will be filed.
