PITTSBURGH,None — Electronics are a big seller on Black Friday. You'll find some great deals on TVs, laptops, cameras, GPS and gaming systems, along with good deals on movies, small appliances, toys and clothing.
So let's start with retail giant Wal-Mart, where the bargains begin at 10 p.m. Thanksgiving night on toys, games and movies.
At midnight, electronics go on sale. I found some great deals on TVs in a variety of sizes and prices. On the low end, is a 32-inch Emerson model for $188. On the high end, is a 51-inch Samsung for $498.
I found a Compac laptop for $198 and a Kodak digital camera for $49, along with select Blu-ray movies for $5.
Target's Doorbusters begin at midnight.
Target has an Acer Netbook for $175, a Tom Tom navigation system for $89, an X-Box 360 console for $139 and a 32-inch Samsung TV for $277.
At Kmart the Doorbusters run from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. Customers typically line up three to four hours in advance.
"The lines will start up. We'll do some vouchers for special items and it will help with the crowd control," said Mike Divoky a Kmart store manager.
Doorbuster include a 32-inch RCA TV for $249, that's $110 off the regular price, buy one get one half-off on family footwear and 70 percent off on fine jewelry.
At Sears there are more than 900 Doorbusters that run from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"There's some fantastic deals, 30 to 50 percent off Kenmore appliances. We've got a great washer and dryer pair for $469 apiece, which is saving over 50 percent, so it's a fantastic deal!" said Tony Tetzlaw, a brand manager at Sears in the Ross Park Mall.
You can get a 32-inch TV for less than $200 or save a thousand dollars on a 55-inch Samsung. I also found a 200-piece Craftsman tool set for $99.
Best Buy is known for its Black Friday markdowns and this year is no exception.
"I've worked for the company for a couple years now and I have not seen a Black Friday ad like this before," said Liz Weber, a Best Buy store manager.
The Doorbusters begin at midnight, with exceptional deals such as a Garmin Nuvi GPS for $84, a Canon digital camera for $89, an Acer tablet for $189 and too many specials to mention on wireless phones. For the first time ever, Best Buy is discounting iPads.
The best sales on TVs include a 42-inch Sharp for $199 or a 50-inch Panasonic for $599.
"Inventory levels look really strong so we're going to be able to make a lot of people happy with them," said Weber.
At Toys "R" Us, Doorbusters start at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving, with many of this year's hot toys at half price. That includes the Leapster 2 for $24, Bratz and Moxy girlz dolls at 55 percent off and 60 percent off on Nerf Dart Tag.
Kohl's opens its doors at midnight, with sweaters for $9. Toys are also 50 percent off, along with a Vivitar camcorder for $59.
Macy's midnight Doorbusters include a George Foreman Grill, a coffee maker or a rice cooker for $9 after a mail-in rebate.
Although store managers won't discuss their inventory levels with me, they did say that they've been getting large shipments in and they should have plenty on hand for the people who wait in line for hours.
Please keep this in mind, it's usually the electronics that sell out the fastest.
