Monongahela police were called to a home on Thomas Street on Dec. 7 for a teenager who had just been assaulted with a baseball bat and had severe trauma to the face and head.

Channel 11 was there as officers took a pink baseball bat out of the home as evidence.

On Monday, we got a look at the criminal complaint against Christopher Urista, 16, who is being charged as an adult.

The victim told police he and his girlfriend were in bed when two people came in wearing black masks with blue X’s across the eyes -- one of them holding a pink and white aluminum baseball bat, according to the criminal complaint. The victim said they demanded money, marijuana and access to to a safe and threatened to kill him and his girlfriend if they didn’t do what they were asked.

According to the criminal complaint, that’s when Urista hit the victim in the back several times with the bat and after he fell to the ground, continued to strike him in the head and face with it.

Monongahela Police Chief Kevin Harris said this is one of the most violent cases they’ve had involving an underage suspect and the district attorney’s office decided he will face attempted homicide charges as an adult.
