16-year-old arrested after crashing car that was reported stolen in Westmoreland County

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 16-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday night in Hempfield Township after crashing a car that was reported stolen, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The crash, which happened just after 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 119 and County Home Road, left the front of the car smashed up.

Police said the teen was speeding when he tried to make a turn onto County Home Road. The car went off the road and hit several trees before ending up back on Route 119.

Engine and Service 32 responded to a one vehicle accident in Hempfield Township. Crews provided traffic control and fluid clean up.

The teenager was not hurt.

Police said the car was reported stolen out of Latrobe, and state police in Greensburg were out looking for it.
