NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — Update 10:00 p.m.: New Kensington police said after investigating, they determined that there was not an attempted child abduction.
Investigators said the mother is facing charges for filing a false police report.

Police are investigating an attempted child abduction in Westmoreland County.
According to emergency responders, the attempted abduction happened around 3 p.m. Thursday in the Parnassus section of New Kensington.

Investigators said someone called 911 at that time and told police someone grabbed a little girl from a yard, but the child’s mother confronted them and got the girl back.
Police put out a “Be On The Look-Out” (BOLO) shortly after they got that 911 call. Officers were searching part of Westmoreland County for two people.
Both people were found and are being detained by police.
Right now, detectives are trying to clarify what exactly happened. They are working to get surveillance footage from cameras in the area.
