PITTSBURGH — 7 things to know about Laurel Schlemmer:
1) Laurel Schlemmer was found guilty but mentally ill on a charge of third-degree murder. She was initially charged with homicide, attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
2) She drowned two of her sons, 6-year-old Daniel and 3-year-old-Luke, in the bathtub after taking their older brother to the school bus stop on April 1, 2014.
3) According to police, Schlemmer told them she got into the tub fully clothed and "crazy voices" told her to push her children underwater.
4) Schlemmer told police she was concerned her younger sons were autistic and would never grow up normally, even though "tests she had doctors put them through show no signs of autism."

5) Schlemmer was initially ruled incompetent to stand trial and sent to Torrance State Hospital for treatment. She was found mentally competent in July 2015 and ordered to stand trial.
6) During the trial, a police officer testified that Schlemmer left Daniel in a parked 112-degree car outside a mall in September 2009 and then ran over both younger boys with her car on April 16, 2013, outside her parents' home. No charges were filed.
7) She was sentenced Wednesday to at least 30 years behind bars.
