PITTSBURGH — Amazon’s in-garage grocery delivery service is now available in the Pittsburgh area.

It was announced Tuesday that Pittsburgh is among 5,000 cities and towns in the United States that are part of the service expansion.

Prime members can take advantage of Key In-Garage Grocery Delivery, which gets Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market groceries delivered inside garages to keep them safe from weather, damage and theft.

Communities surrounding Pittsburgh that are now eligible for the delivery service include Canonsburg, Finleyville, Monroeville, Verona and Wilmerding.

Delivery drivers -- who are vetted through background checks -- receive temporary, one-time access to a customer’s garage after the Amazon delivery app confirms the driver’s identity.
