BETHEL PARK, Pa. — For the second time in less than a week, classes were canceled Monday in the Bethel Park School District because of threats.
The threats mentioned Monday, as well as last Thursday. School officials would not provide specifics about the threats, but said some were found on social media.
“I think that's terrible. I'm surprised to hear it because Bethel Park is a safe community. That's one of the things we liked living in this area was it's safe and we felt our kids were always safe in schools, so it's a tough call,” Becky Picard, a Bethel Park resident, said.

Bethel Park police did not find the threats to be credible.
A school spokesperson said Monday that the decision to cancel classes was made because they wanted all students to have peace of mind. It was also taken into consideration that attendance might be light.
The district’s superintendent said students will have to make up Monday's school day.
