Crews building scaffolding to fix Frick Building

PITTSBURGH — Steel scaffolding is going up quickly at the Frick Building in downtown Pittsburgh after a 1,500 piece of granite fell off and smashed into the street below last month.

So far, the scaffolding goes up about 11 stories, but will eventually go all the way to the top of the building.

Crews spent all day Tuesday building the last step before repair crews can actually fix the one upper cornice of the Frick Building where the partial collapse happened.

The scaffolding is supposed to be in place and finished by Aug. 18th.

At this point, Grant Street is still closed between Fourth and Fifth avenues and there is still no timeline from the city for when or if at least one lane of traffic will be opened.
