The defense attorney for Jacqua Barnett, one of three men charged with killing a father and child on Tuesday in Swissvale, says his client had nothing to do with the homicides.
Barnett, his brother Brandon Barnett, and Donavan Wilson are charged with shooting Walter Stewart and his seven-year-old son, Jo Lawrence Stewart, but attorney Phil DiLucente said Jacqua Barnett wasn’t involved.
“He doesn’t know anything,” DiLucente said.

Allegheny County homicide detectives say Jacqua and his brother, Brandon Barnett, and another man, Donavan Wilson, are responsible for the shooting that was likely the result of a drug deal.
"Jacqua Barnett did not fire any weapon whatsoever. He did not know anything about this other than his brother was shot and he was the one who took him to the hospital," DiLucente said.
DiLucente says his client was in the Swissvale area the afternoon of the shooting for another reason.
"He was about to go get a haircut at a local barbershop and the next thing you know, he learned his brother had been shot,” DiLucente said.
Brandon Barnett was shot several times that night and is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Family members of the victims are getting funeral plans ready for Walter Stewart and his son, who was only in the first grade.
The three suspects have a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 5.
