Family, friends celebrate Antwon Rose's life on what would have been his 19th birthday

Antwon Rose II, who was shot and killed by a former East Pittsburgh officer, would’ve been 19 years old on Friday.

Friday was the 2nd annual Antwon Rose II Birthday Celebration.

"He loved the kids in his community so for us it's bringing his families' vision alive to provide the kids in the community something they don't see every day," said Kahlil Darden, CEO and co-founder of Young Black Motivated Kings and Queens.

The day was more like a gift to so many children and youth in the neighborhood.

Putting it all together was a huge effort from a youth organization, business owners and so many others.

"We have haircuts here, we have hair stylists, we have face painters, bounce houses," Darden said.

Rose's face could be seen all around, even his poems and pictures of others making those words their reality.
