Thousands of people are expected to participate in Pittsburgh’s first Open Streets event of 2017 on Sunday, and odds are just as many drivers will be frustrated by it.

However, motorists must find alternate routes for the duration of the event, which can create traffic headaches very quickly.
On Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.,
from Market Square all the way to the Birmingham Bridge, and Carson Street from the Birmingham Bridge to 10th Street. Both the Birmingham and 10th Street bridges will also be closed, as well as the Armstrong Tunnel.

Motorized traffic is allowed to cross the route at designated intersections. Three water and first aid stations, along with more than a half-dozen restroom stops, will be staged along the route. A pair of fitness hubs – in Market Square and South Side – will be available for participants.
