Former 911 operator accused of hiding camera in urinal at police department appears in court

NORTH VERSAILLES, Pa. — A former North Versailles 911 dispatcher accused of hiding a camera in the urinal of the township’s police department while on the job appeared in court today.

The preliminary hearing for John Logan was ultimately postponed.

Logan faces three counts of invasion of privacy and tampering with evidence.

Logan’s defense attorney, Phil DiLucente, says it was postponed due to one of the accusers not being available for the hearing.

Logan remained silent as Channel 11 asked him about his alleged actions inside the police station.

DiLucente spoke on his behalf.

“I think anybody that’s accused of a crime is always a little bit concerned,” said DiLucente.

Logan is accused of hiding a small camera in the bathroom of the North Versailles Police Department.

Police paperwork states a number of flash drives later recovered from Logan’s home contained videos of North Versailles police officers using the urinal and in varying forms of undress.

DiLucente says this is the first time Logan has been charged with a crime of this nature.

“No previous allegations — anything like this — of you know, videoing male genitalia in the bathroom,” said DiLucente.

Police paperwork states officers called Allegheny County detectives after finding the camera back in late December.

Police say Logan was then caught on surveillance footage leaving the police station bathroom with the SD card.

Logan did not respond when Channel 11 asked him about what happened to the SD card.

DiLucente says Logan took pride in his work and this was out of character.

“He serviced the North Versailles community for over 20 years. He was very dedicated. No criminal history,” said DiLucente.

Logan’s next court hearing has been rescheduled for April 27.
