SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Losing water was the least of a family’s worries when a water main broke early Monday morning in Scott Township.
Frigid water poured downhill, flooding and damaging two homes on Lochlin Drive, including Laura Bohaski’s.
“It was just barreling down this hill, barreling down here, barreling down the driveway,” she said.
The break and flooding occurred around 3 a.m.
Water rushed down a hill to this home. Take a look at the line of debris - that’s how high the water rose. Not a good morning for the folks who live there @WPXI pic.twitter.com/ApEnnjwROe

“Our basement carpet is just a soggy mess, coming up through the ceramic,” Bohaski said. “We have flooring down there that the water got under and it's all muddy, it's a mess.”
The 8-inch water main break sent frozen debris and chunks of rock surging down the road and all over Bohaski’s yard, and across the street, neighbors had it worse.
“They're very, very impacted,” she said. “You can see they're taking the cars out and everything.”
Neighbors say it's the second time a broken main flooded their home.

Township Commissioner Dave Calabria saw the story on the news and came out to see if they needed help.
“This is a catastrophe, that's all I can say,” he said.
Pennsylvania American Water shut off the line while making repairs and sent restoration workers to assess damage. Officials tell Channel 11 the family will be put up in a hotel if need be.
Meantime, Bohaski feels fortunate hers didn't have to evacuate, and that things weren't worse.
“It's a mess, but I can say that the firemen, policemen they were on it,” she said. “We had an adjuster here from the water company, at 6 a.m. They were on it. … I feel like it’s going to be taken care of.”
