HOMESTEAD — East 8th avenue in Homestead is beginning to revitalize, even after getting hit hard during the pandemic. There are many for-sale signs, but a group of young business owners are hoping to change that.
“We went from being a very popular avenue to when the malls opened up, it affected the borough’s Main Street,” Homestead Mayor Betty Esper said.
“Why not make this the new South Side? The new Lawrenceville?,” said Eon Bar & Grill Owner Mike Reid.
Reid opened in the middle of the pandemic and said business is booming.
“We are following the rules and our expectations are to have a safe environment for everyone,” he said.
“There is no place I’d rather be than in Homestead,” said owner of Live Fresh Cold Brett Gilliam. “There’s a renaissance going on in Homestead right now and we are the forefront of it.”
