Landlord group suing Pittsburgh council over eviction moratorium

Watch: Landlords still have to pay bills; how they’ve managed during eviction moratorium

PITTSBURGH — A local landlord group is suing Pittsburgh City Council for passing an eviction moratorium.

The new ordinance prevents landlords from evicting tenants for failing to pay because of the ongoing pandemic.

Landlord Services Bureau, based out of North Huntingdon, claims the city council doesn’t have the power to enact this kind of legislation. They’re asking a state court to declare the eviction moratorium unconstitutional.

In the meantime, they’re also asking a judge to prevent the moratorium from being enforced until a ruling can be made.
