The reopening comes after a federal judge approved plans in May to revive the century-old family businesses. Robert Levin was able to buy back the brand as well as 32 stores in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Levin partnered with the Schultz family, which owns several Ashley HomeStores and has been in the business for three generations. The goal is to make Levin Furniture a family business once again.

Central to regaining customer trust is honoring the deposits of customers to either get their furniture or a refund.

“If they do not want to place a new order, we understand it’s been a length of time. We have established a fund as part of the proceedings,” said Matt Schultz, a co-owner.

The Schultz brothers will run daily operations, but the stores will retain the Levin name.

Letters for customers who have pending deposits will go out next week with details on how to get their furniture or money back.
