According to a police criminal complaint, Perrotta offered to help a newly hired part-time officer whose psychological examination had expired.

That officer told investigators he met Perrotta at the police station on Oct. 27 around 11 a.m.

According to police documents, Perrotta then printed out a psychological exam form and filled out the scoring section and the psychologist’s portion with the name “Dr. Michael Crabtree.”

Perrotta then allegedly typed up a letter to the Elizabeth Borough Police Department, saying that the officer had been evaluated by “Dr. Crabtree” and was cleared to work.

An hour after that meeting, police said the officer texted Perrotta and told him he wasn’t going to use the forged documents. Perrotta messaged back, saying to “delete the messages involved in this conversation and to shred the documents.”

Instead, the officer took the documents to detectives, leading to Perrotta’s charges and suspension.

The Elizabeth Borough police Chief William Sombo told Channel 11 that Perrotta has been suspended and released the following statement:

“Elizabeth Boro is aware of the situation. We have already taken action. There is an internal investigation ongoing. It’s a personnel matter and I can’t speak about it."
