Man dies days after being shot in Troy Hill

PITTSBURGH — A man who was shot over the weekend in Pittsburgh’s Troy Hill neighborhood died Tuesday afternoon at a hospital, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Francisco Sanchez, 31, was shot Saturday morning in the area of Lowrie at Tinsbury streets.

Police said John Withrow, 65, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after the shooting. It is not yet clear if that charge will be upgraded following Sanchez’s death.

When police got to the shooting scene, Sanchez was found with a gunshot wound to the head. At that time, he was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police said Withrow told them he was sitting in his car when a vehicle driven by Sanchez came by and hit his car. Court documents state that Withrow said the men then got into an argument and Sanchez punched Withrow. Withrow believed Sanchez was about to hit another person, and that is when Withrow fired the shot.
