PITTSBURGH — Justin McGowan, 34, of Pittsburgh, is facing a slew of charges following a late-night incident at a Shadyside bar.
McGowan is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of terroristic threats and one count of resisting arrest, among other charges.
Police were called to the bar “5801″ on Ellsworth Avenue just before midnight Monday.
According to court documents, McGowan had a few drinks and fell asleep at the bar. After being woken up by staff, he was seen “chasing the bartenders, attempting to fight them, throwing objects and acting extremely erratic,” according to police paperwork.
When officers tried to arrest McGowan, documents detail that he resisted and had to be taken to the ground by officers.
Once he was handcuffed, McGowan allegedly kicked one officer and headbutted another while apparently threatening to kill law enforcement.
Arresting documents said officers took McGowan to the Allegheny County Jail, but on the way he repeatedly slammed his head against the bars on the car window. He had to be taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital.
After receiving treatment, McGowan was taken back to the jail. He was arraigned Tuesday and was unable to post bond.
McGowan is due back in court on Feb. 28 for a preliminary hearing.
