Mixed reaction to new Cranberry housing development plans

CRANBERRY, Pa. — Several parcels of land in Cranberry are being considered for a major new housing development. People living nearby tell Channel 11 they have some mixed feelings about the project.

“They’ve been building homes here as long as I can remember. Its never slowed down. I personally like it. I think if it gets too big, people aren’t happy with it,” said one woman.

The Cranberry Township Board of Supervisors is considering a new development called the “Missing Middle Housing.” The goal is to attract young families just starting out as well as older people looking to downsize. The development will look similar to existing neighborhoods.

“I feel like they are trying to attract too many things in here where its getting impossible to use,” Ryan Murtagh said.

Township leaders addressed questions and concerns online.

A virtual public hearing is scheduled on March 25 at 6 p.m. if you’d like to comment.
